FREE – onOne launches plug-ins

onOne has launched new free versions of its PhotoTools 2.5 and PhotoFrame 4.5 plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop. PhotoTools is an image enhancement plug-in that delivers over 300 different photo altering effects. The Free Edition is based on the standard version of the software with a few less features included. It provides 15 of the most popular effects such as Bleach Bypass and Cross Process which are used to generate classic photographic effects, as well as tools for automatic skin smoothing.

PhotoFrame is designed to help users enhance their images by adding backgrounds, edges, and various textures. With the new Free Edition users receive 20 professional grade effects and can customize them by controlling opacity, size and color.

Both PhotoTools 2.5 Free Edition and PhotoFrame 4.5 Free Edition require Mac OS X 10.5 or higher, along with Photoshop CS2 through CS4. Both apps can be downloaded directly from the company’s website and are priced at $160 for either the Standard version of PhotoTools 2.5 or PhotoFrame 4.5.

2/10/10 PS meeting

Meeting was held in Auditorium 140 due to scheduling conflict with our normal 150. No problem. 40+ souls crammed into the smaller venue and enjoyed some great tutorials and tips as seen below.

  • Sonny Taylor -Hand-color photographs, plus, another related technique is to tint (eg. sepia) images, as a monotone or duotone.
  • Stuart Block – Various Tips -n-Tricks:
    • recap on sharpening technique – apply image 50% opacity darken to minimize white halos
    • preferences in photoshop – especially in regards to tabs and maximum compatibility
    • spring-loaded shortcuts (someone else will have to show birds-eye – my computer does not support that feature)
    • quick demonstration of jpeg vs. raw
    • making gems pop with selective sharpening & curves
  • Ken Friberg – Removing backgrounds/green screens.
  • Andrew Heimbuch – quick demo on Selective color adjustments with masking.

Location – MCAD auditorium, 7pm to 9pm.
